Debbie made Garrett a quilt for 'rest time' at kindergarten. He loved the quilt because it included everything he likes - mostly tractors, diggers, loaders and trucks.

Karna gave Debbie and Susan a massage after our trip to the Bunker Hill Cafe for dinner.

Susan and Kelly caught Joey for a photo. For some reason he is a little shy around my camera. And yes, he really was talking on the phone.

I have been working out every day. What do you think of my new body?

Kevin worked in 'Ag Land' at the state fair on Saturday. Ag Land is a play place for children.

Todd needed a little love from Debbie because he had to work the K-State booth at the State Fair all day on Saturday. I think it will take Todd and Kevin a whole year to recover from their State Fair experiences. Susan, Debbie and I had a great time. We tried to eat as much State Fair food as we could. We had fried cheese, Butch's BBQ, Pronto Pups (corn dog), taffy, and funnel cakes.

Garrett gave his brother Sam a ride on the Wiggle Racer that Susan bought at the State Fair. I am sure you will not be surprised to learn that Debbie bought one for her grand daughter Natalie.

Of course, Anna had to join the fun with her brothers Sam and Garrett.

This is some of the silage feed that I planted in late June. I was so relieved to see it grow because when you are planting, it just does not seem like it will grow. I guess you just need to have faith and a little rain. And now it needs a lot of sunshine and heat.

It was an overcast day, but no rain prior to kickoff. Susan, Shelly, Nancy, and Jenna.

A Fight, Football, and Family

This is the face of the 170 pound MMA champion. Ok, so maybe you don't know what MMA means - mixed, martial arts. Rob is one of those guys who gets in a ring, actually, a fenced in ring, and fights where anything goes. Rob's expertise is jujitsu and he has excelled at mma fighting because he is technique solid versus his opponents who are more of the 'brawler' type. You might think Rob looks bad, but he won. I wonder what the other guy looks like. Rob is the son of Nancy's sister Jane and husband Harvey. They live in Lincoln, Nebraska and Rob attends University of Nebraska.

When family is around, there is a lot of family history to examine. Nancy looked for boxes of family stuff in the attic.

Nancy and I attended the first football game of the season

We sit next to friends Diane and Rob and have done so for several years. Diane and I met in 1984 during our teaching days in Logan, Kansas, and have remained friends ever since.

I experimented with my camera during the second half of the game - after the sun went down. It was a little warm during the first half, but the second half was beautiful.

The sunset was gorgeous. I could not resist snapping a few photos. I do not know who that guy is in the photo. He just kept standing up.

Nancy and Jane visited Uncle Ed in Boise, Idaho, last week. He is 91 years old and is in fairly good health and he is so much fun to be around. I hope I can be just like him as I grow old. He walks daily with a group called the Happy Hoofers. After they walk, he goes to Chew and Chat for breakfast and more talking.
