Dog Days at the Farm

Garrett and Shelby played frisbee/fetch on Sunday evening. Shelby is Matt and Lori's dog and Shelby loves to play fetch. In fact, she is obsessed with the game fetch.

The moment of release

After hours of playing fetch, Shelby rested in a pool of water left over from a recent rain. If no rain puddle is available, Shelby will jump in the cattle water tank to cool down.

After a few minutes in the puddle, Shelby was ready for more play.

LATE Happy Anniversary to Kevin and Sharon

I forgot to post a photo of Kevin and Sharon's wedding anniversary on May 31. So, better late than never. Kevin was traveling for his job on their anniversary, but Sharon met him in Washington DC at the end of his trip. They spent a couple of days sightseeing.

Happy Birthday Matt

Matt was hard at work in the barn preparing to AI heifers. For you non-farm folks, AI is the abbreviation for artificial insemination. You can see horse halters and bridles hanging in the background. On the table you can see a thaw thermos for the frozen semen straws, refreshments in the form of diet Pepsi and Bud Light, and of course, every farmers best friend - a laptop.

I chose this photo of Matt because it was taken in the porch area of the front yard at Susan's house. I like the look on Matt's face and I like the fact that Garrett is seen in the background working on his tee ball batting.

Update on Nancy's leg

Nancy's leg is getting better. Most of the swelling is gone, but the purple gunk is still lingering.

Anna likes to challenge us to races. Of course, she doesn't like to lose either.

Write a caption for this photo

I need your suggestions for an interesting caption for this photo. Kelly took this picture of my sister Susan and me as we checked on the progress of the new feedlot. Don't be shy, give it a try. Post your suggestion in the comment section.

Official start of summer at the farm because it is June 1st

Sam took some of the leftover Memorial Day decorations from Anna's bike

Anna carried the bottle of milk replacer to the barn

Now you know why Kelly has a lean body, she rides the farm bike. It takes a great deal of pedal power to move this bike on the rugged terrain at the farm

Sam, Anna and Nancy worked as a team to feed the calf

Nancy, you look like the retirement thing is making you happy.

We took a walk to look at the progress of the new feedlot

Anna and Sam played in the new feedbunks. Kelly took several of these photos.

What do two kids do when a bar is available? They hang from it and do gymnastic tricks.

Sam waved goodbye at the end of an enjoyable evening

Not only did he wave goodbye, Sam also kissed his mom Kelly
